Day Bag Contents

The goal for packing your day bag is to pack most of the things that you think you will need during a day of paddling. You don’t want to unpack your boat or your large waterproof bag while in transit. That’s way too much trouble!

Big picture items include safety gear, electronics, navigation items and lunch.

Here are the things generally found in instructor bags:

Glasses and sunglasses

GPS/and or compass, small telescope

Snacks/lunch

Raincoat and rain pants

Electronics kit including headlamp, extra batteries, charging source and all cables needed for all electronics types.

Fire starting kit that includes 3 ways to start a fire.

Small roll of rope.

Large contractor Bag as emergency shelter.

Sunscreen and Bug lotion in a zip lock bag

River information or notes.

Bandana

Small first aid kit (duct tape, band aids, prn meds).

Small repair kit.

Bear Spray

Toilet paper, sanitary wipes and small shovel
